“Where were you on the Day no one can forget?

Postby Bible Bear » 11 Sep 2011, 19:35

I would like to ask on September 11th 2001 when you heard about the attacks on the World trade centers where and what were you doing that day? I will be the first to answer this one.
Actually it was about one week before this occurred that I was at the Brookhurst shopping center in Anaheim where the Ralph’s Market, post office, Jack in the Box and other places are. I had seen an Islamic lady walk by with her scarf by her neck. This part of Anaheim is little Islam. In this section they have some of their own businesses near by including a mosque on Brookhurt almost across the street from the Asian Christian Church on La Palma. I had not had any run ins with this culture of people but at that time I was keeping up with the newspaper and was told on TV that it is not a matter of if we will get hit it is a matter of when. The USS Cole ship was recently hit back then. And also they also blew up some Buddha statues. I thought now they will come over here and they will show up at the mall or the subway stations and make themselves a bomb to kill others. When I saw that lady with the scarf I said to God. Wherever they are going to attack please I pray I am not near this.

Of course I only expected a store or a place of may be only of 15 or so people at a time to be the targets. As I had read in Israel news how places like that get bombed. I was a Night owl back then. So I was not known to get up that early. All I know is. That day on September 11 I woke up maybe about 10 or 11 or so am. Not one to always watch TV I just decided to watch that day. And I looked on the TV set and I seen those 2 buildings being seen getting attacked on the news coverage. They kept this on TV all day. It was the talk everywhere. But you know what?

For a short moment in that History was something miraculous. Some people were actually being nicer than they usually were. Some cars stopped for me like they had not before. There was actually a feeling of support from others at this time. And at night time all over I seen people had their candles lit up for prayers. I never had seen America come together and praying to God as these things took place. Just maybe now all wanted a change for the better and maybe now God would have some importance again. But as you know the feeling was temporary and faded out. Everyone went back to their old ways and God was completely forgotten. I had A New England Patriot Football shirt that I wore that seem to fit well in those times. And it just so happens the Patriots won that year.

So I would like to ask other members do you remember the day of September 11th. What happened that day in what is to be known the Day we will not forget the most severe attack since Pearl Harbor Dec. 7 1941. This day marks your testimony of your part in World History.

I will never forget it. That morning was the first day I was to begin as chaplain of the assisted living home that I have been chaplain of for the last ten years. On my drive in as I pulled into the parking lot I heard on the radio the first plane hit the towers and I ran in to see the second plane hit the towers at 8:45. Devotion was at 8:45. I was about five minutes late for devotion and had to announce to the 80 something residents that we had been attacked. I also lead prayer for our nation at that very moment.

I was living in Arizona running an assisted living home. My son called me from Florida and said, "Turn on your TV quick. Something horrible is happening in New York!" It was very early in the morning there in AZ so I hadn't even been up yet. The poor old folks just couldn't even begin to fathom something like this happening.
