Transcending All
Transcending all, comfort felt would be to know
that God awaits all saints on that distant shore–
awaits His own on that day of their homecoming;
Reserving boundless joy for all who tarry longer,
whose earthly tasks are yet to be performed
to fulfill His will in what is yet to be.
Transcending all, when that point in time arrives
to span the gulf between, meets in great
rejoicing those that have gone before. Sadness
gone when heir and joint-heir meet at last, a new
song sung on the street of gold before God's throne.
Transcending all, when at last the marriage supper
of the Lamb begins, His Bride shines bright.
Oh, eternal day where there is never bleak, black
night whose death corrupts.
Transcending all, He calls a woeful world to come,
to enter light, to drop the cloak of dark that hinders
those who would receive His sight.
