Tolerance!

Postby Remnant » 31 Jan 2009, 09:11

I would like to start a discussion with my brothers and sisters on this board about drawing the line and what to accept and what not to accept.

Should we allow JW's, Mormon's, Islam and Muslim, etc. participation on this forum?

Please share scripture that might help us to better understand why we should or shouldn't!

What about Abortion?
What About Homosexuality?

You pick the subject that you find that people in the church are so tolerant of today and should not be!

Personally, I feel that there is too much tolerance in the churches and on the "Christian" forums. When people with false doctrine get on board, discussions become impossible because they are always interjecting their false beliefs. Yes, we are to minister to the unsaved but when they don't listen, we are to "shake the dust from our feet" and move on. Instead, it's a constant bickering back and forth with Scripture being tossed around by people who interpret it very differently than a born-again, spirit-filled Christian. We could discuss abortion, for example, and it will be a free for all with unScriptural viewpoints being presented as truth. Abortion is wrong under any circumstances. . .period! On the other hand, it does make for lively conversation. I guess if we all agree, there's nothing to talk about, hahahaha!! So. . .I don't know what my opinion on this is so I will go along with whatever ya'all want to do. :D

Bro. Frank,

In John 14:6, Jesus answered the disciples by saying, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." That doesn't sound like a very "tolerant" statement, nor is it politically correct (as defined by the liberal elite in this country), but regardless, Jesus spoke the TRUTH. The truth is the truth - you can't change it or rearrange it or make it any different than it is. Thus, it's important to speak the truth and learn the truth and not compromise the truth for the sake of "tolerance". I know that the Christ First forum is designed to be a place where people can share differing viewpoints and different opinions, however, I think most of the members on the forum have opinions which come from a biblical worldview. If one has an opposing worldview (other than biblical Christianity), then although God calls us to respect that person as an individual, I don't think it would be appropriate for that person to post information here on the forum because it would confuse the reader. Of course, anyone is welcome to read the information on the website, but posting on the website should have special rules. There are many other website forums on the Internet that cater to politically correct thought, but I don't believe that Christ First Forum is one of them. If Christ First forum became a hodge-podge of religious dogma, then the forum would have to change its name to "Mish-Mash" forum or something like that. If Christ is truly FIRST in this forum, then biblical Christianity must be the basis for everything that is posted on this website.

Thanks and God bless!

Rick

Frank, this is how I personally feel about your questions:

Should we allow JW's, Mormon's, Islam and Muslim, etc. participation on this forum

Here we are talking about 'religions' ,and not 'Christinity.'

On this site I believe we should keep it strictly like the Bible says:
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14

These religions you mention do not believe that 'Christ' is the only way to the Father so I don't believe they have a membership place here.

If they decide they would like to visit, and I pray we are a witness to them about Christ, I have no objections.

The scripture says in 2 Peter 1:20:

knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation.

I believe 'religions' creates private interpretation.

I've been in many witnessing ministries, and I learn a long time ago that 'religious' people are the hardest people to reach for Christ. You will argue over and over about certain scriptures, and never get anywhere.

Jesus came to the tax collectors, and those who knew they had 'sin.' He didn't go to the religious Pharisees because they thought they had no sin.

The only way to go toward Christ is to 'know' you are a sinner, and you need a Savior~

I think it's highly important to discuss abortion and homosexuality base on scriptures only, and not political correctness opinions.

Who knows, some young girl might see the discussion, and her mind could be change about abortion.

As God's children, we're to be the 'light' and 'salt' of the earth. If we are compromising with religious beliefs, how is one to see Christ through us?

Personally I think our churches are filled with 'compromise' today, and I just need a safe haven to share scriptures, and to enjoy each other's friendship with a pastor's leadership.

I do write this with 'love' because I know that Christ died for 'all',and He loves 'all',but 'He's the only way to the Father.'

First let me say I agree with every one on this!

Secondly, One of the biggest problems with the modern day church is that their is too much tolerance and not enough discipline or backbone.

I have seen on other christian forums where threads carry on for days with people arguing about abortion or the homosexual lifestyle.

I saw another thread titled aliens and giants that was 29 pages long.

Others where their is a great debate on JW's whether they are a cult and Mormons are Christian.

Where is the discernment of the Church who will say enough is enough?

Jesus warned us in Matthew 24:5
5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.

Well that dog ain't going to hunt here!

He also told us in Matthew 7:15-23
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles?
17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness
!’

2 Corinthians 11:13-15
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.
14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

Paul tells us in Romans 12:9
9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.

If we are going to do that then we cannot afford to allow erroneous doctrine that is different from that is held by our Lord and the Apostles.

The Biblical perspective then where false teaching and teachers are concerned, is that we are to have compassion for those who are immersed in the teachings of evil false prophets, but we are to vigorously oppose the false teachings with our primary objective to win souls and not so much win arguments.

We are ambassadors for Christ and Our allegiance is to Him and our service and love to one another. Building up the body of Christ, not tearing it down.

1 Timothy 6:3-5
3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness,
4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,
5 useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself
.

One of the differences with Christ first forum is that it has a pastor as an administrator and I take my calling very seriously. I must be in constant watch, Looking for wolves. I have headed off some and will continue to do so, but it is all of our responsibility to keep watch.

Not giving the devil an inch and testing the spirits daily!

We are here to Illuminate and to open the eyes of the Lost, to encourage the brethren and to keep watch over each other.

We are to preach and teach the whole truth wheather they listen or not.
Acts 20:28
28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

I may not be your pastor, but He has made me an overseer and I will dilegently serve and that will be my calling till I die.

Ezekiel 2:3-5
3 And He said to me: “Son of man, I am sending you to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day. 4 For they are impudent and stubborn children. I am sending you to them, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD.’
5 As for them, whether they hear or whether they refuse—for they are a rebellious house—yet they will know that a prophet has been among them.

Then in Ezekiel 2:7
7 You shall speak My words to them, whether they hear or whether they refuse,

When God birthed Christ First Forum in me, it came after long prayer and great thought. The rules and guidelines were set through all of the many hours of prayer and consideration. I believe they are just as relevant and what God wants for Christ First Forum today. Nothing for now will change!

The moderators and regular contributors of Christ first forum are truly what I call the Remnant and when people visit here, their is no question to where we stand. We love the Lord, Look for His return Abhor sin and Cling to what is Good.

I have been told by some this is not a place for them because they would not be allowed to convey their on beliefs because we all think too much alike. I told them it is not what we believe as much it is what God's word says about it.

I will close by saying; It is an honor and a blessing to be in the same camp with all of you on this forum and what a delight to know I am not alone on this journey. You are my brothers and sisters and I am looking so forward to the day that I see every one of you face to face either in this life or the one to come.

Servant and Friend,
Frank

To me tolerance = political correctness, and I for one do not believe we need to be pc.
The church allows way to much to go on with in there doors, and unfortunately it boils
down to being scared of reprecussions.

We as Christians must be willing to stand nor matter the outcome. We have nothing
to worry about, because we have the best support system in the world...GOD.
