To know Christ / Believe in Christ

In regards to salvation, is “believe” merely an acknowledgement or a knowing of Christ or is there more involved? If so, what? ~~Consider John 3:16 vs. James 2:19

When the scripture tells us that if one believes on the Lord Jesus Christ you will be saved and whosoever believes on Him will have everlasting life in John 3:16 is far different from James 2:19.

One can believe with the mind that Jesus is who he says he is can have what is referred to as intellectual accent. We have so many people who profess and acknowledge knowing Jesus, but their heart is far from Him.

To have faith and trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior also involves more then acknowledgement. It also involves repentance, confession and yielding to Him as Lord and savior then as a result of that the Holy Spirit will regenerate and give unto that person a new birth. They will become born again, not by man, but by God John 3:3
