The Stoning of Todd Bentley
September 14, 2008 by C. KingHisglory
The other day while meditating on Deuteronomy 13, I wondered how we are to apply its commands to the Church today. I mean, we can’t go around actually stoning false prophets. So as I pondered and pondered these scriptures, I felt like the Lord told me that the barrage of healthy criticism and exposure in regard to Todd Bentley was in fact a zealous stoning of a false prophet by discerning and caring men and women of God. It was a godly response to a very ungodly and spiritually dangerous situation.
Todd Bentley had so much false doctrine and lies in his ministry that to ignore it would have been sin by most of us. In the scriptures we are commanded to rebuke false doctrine, not to ignore it or support it. And as for mercy, when dealing with false prophets we must remember that these people are leading thousands of people astray. We are showing love and mercy to those thousands when we expose heresy. Sure we can pray and hope the false prophets will repent, but until they do we need to expose them and run from their teachings and influence. In reality we are loving God when we flee the fornication of their deception. As well, most of these prophets have been warned by God over and over again. For years He has dealt with them, yet they have refused His words and His will. So God judges; and He can, will, and does use the stones of today’s Davids to administer His wrath.
While there are many good people who love God in the River movement, they (you) need to open your Bibles and get a grip on truth. When you do that, you won’t fall into the mouths of the wolves who stand below that mountain of intimacy with God you are climbing. I also suggest you take a good look at those wolves’ faces: some of them are in the pulpits of the churches you attend and the conferences you frequent. Usually when they speak it sounds something like this:
Hoooooowwwwww can you call yourself a Christian if you don’t tithe?
or
Hooooooowwwww will I pay the mortgage on my second mansion if you don’t obey God and sow $1000 into my ministry (moneystry)?
or
Hooooooowwwww can you tell this isn’t diamond dust from heaven on my head? You’re just a dumb, insignificant little sheep. Stop doubting me…
Yours in scam-disgust and gratitude that Jesus is overturning ministry tables in many River and non-River conferences and churches,
