T.D. Jakes to Franklin Graham: Apologize to Obama

Bishop T.D. Jakes, a Dallas megachurch pastor who will be preaching at Lakewood Church during Memorial Day weekend, is calling out Franklin Graham on his his hesitancy to accept Obama as a Christian and asking he apologize for casting speculation onto the president’s faith.

Graham, son of evangelist Billy Graham and the CEO of the Christian charity Samaritan’s Purse, has told the media that he believes President Barack Obama was born a Muslim and that those religious roots affect his governance today. He said that although Obama says he’s a Christian the “seed of Islam” is in him and “the Islamic world sees the president as one of theirs.”

Jakes, who has been getting a lot of attention for the release of his new movie Jumping the Broom, discussed Graham’s position with columnist and Obama biographer Roland S. Martin. (H/T Religion News Service)

“We didn’t question the Christianity of President Bush when he said he accepted Christ, and I’m disappointed in Rev. Franklin Graham in that regard,” Jakes told Martin. ”…And I would hope that he would see the rationale in apologizing for such statements — because if the president’s faith is suspect, then all of our faiths are suspect, because the Bible is quite clear about what it takes to be saved and the president has been quite open about his accepting Christ and him openly confessing it before men. And if it’s good enough for the Bible it ought to be good enough for the rest of us.”

Last year, the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life found that nearly one-in-five Americans polled said the president was a Muslim.

Around that time, Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell, senior pastor of Windsor Village United Methodist Church, criticized people still claiming Obama’s Muslim faith following frank, personal discussions of Christianity at events like the White House Easter Prayer Breakfast.

Franklin Graham was the subject of a an essay posted Tuesday by religion scholar Stephen Prothero that argued that he’s embarrassing his father by bashing Islam more than preaching Christianity and focusing too much on politics.

Jakes seems to agree on this point, saying “I wish he had the diplomacy of his father, who brought the gospel to people without being nuanced by politics because when you do those things you offend people that you are actually called to save and to serve.”

How about Obama apologizing to all of america for lying about being a Christian. How about Him apologizing for sending our country down the tubes.

Franklin Graham spoke the truth and you TD Jakes should apologize and get on your knees before God and ask Him to forgive you for teaching and peaching a false gospel of the Oneness Pentecostalism beliefs.
