Super Bowl 2011 rejected ad: YouTube video shows John 3:16 banned commercial
The other day I went to sleep or woke up thinking about the rejected Super Bowl ad to the left, the one that shows a football player wearing "John 3:16" a la Tim Tebow in his black under-eye paint.
I like the Amplified version of the John 3:16 verse:
For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.
"I wonder why Tim Tebow doesn't wear Scripture anymore?" I asked my husband the other week. We theorized that it was because the NFL has more stringent rules about that kind of stuff than the college league.
At least people can still hold "John 3:16" signs in the crowd, like that one man did for years -- back during a time when I didn't know what John 3:16 meant. Thank God I do now.
But I'm kinda surprised Fox Sports rejected the Super Bowl 2011 ad. At least that gives it new life and the kind of controversy online that makes people want to go watch the banned ad.
And I'm glad they banned the other GoDaddy beaver stuff. I just don't like GoDaddy, except when it comes to searching for domain names -- especially their bulk domain name search tool, that stuff is awesome. Then I buy the dot com name somewhere else.
Oh well.
I thought Fox was the "Christian" station -- but this is Fox Sports, so that's a whole different ball game. Either way, God's Word is true and it can never be surpressed for long.
