Stockton Church Offers Drive-Thru Prayers

When you think of a drive-thru, a prayer isn't typically what you'd order. But, at Calvary First Assembly of God in Stockton, they're serving up a rolling helping of salvation.

"We spend some time praying for them and they drive right on out and go about their business," says Pastor Larry Rust. For Rust and his congregants, it's a sign of the times. "I think one of things we realize is that we live in a very busy society."

It's "Serve Our Stockton" day and the folks at Calvary say what the people and the city really need is prayer. "Just a lot of different needs, the crisis that Stockton is in and people are hurting today and we believe that prayer is the answer to that," says Rust. The waving signs along Hammer Lane and Kelley Drive drew in people in need of many things. "People praying for their finances, the've been praying for their children, their marriages, their foreclosures, their physical needs."

Taliytha Hill and her family pulled in for a quick prayer over the thing that's closest to her heart - her six children. "We just came here to get prayed for to make our life easier, basically," Hill told FOX40

In the time it takes to order a Happy meal, this church was offering up a path to a happy life.

"We want to pray for them, we want to support," says Rust.

So sad! One step further away from God.

I think this is a good outreach. Hopefully people who don't normally go to church are taking advantage of this and it just might open the door for them to go to church and get to know the Lord. However, if churched people are doing this for a "quickie", then they need to re-evaluate their walk with the Lord.

In the time it takes to order a Happy meal, this church was offering up a path to a happy life.

I found this statement made by a secular news station rather unfair. Prayer is NEVER a bad thing and they cheapened it with their choice of words.
