Protestants' poor showing not a shocker

A Christian renewal group isn't surprised at the poor showing of Protestants in a recent survey of peoples' knowledge of world religions.

A newly released survey reveals Protestants rank fourth in knowledge of religion behind atheists, agnostics, Jews, and Mormons. The survey, released Tuesday by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, aimed to test a broad range of religious knowledge, including understanding of the Bible, core teachings of different faiths, and major figures in religious history. (See earlier story)

Mark Tooley, president of the Institute on Religion & Democracy, says he isn't surprised at the ranking of Protestants in the survey's findings.

What a bogus survey. I would like to see all the questions they asked.

Although I would not be surprised if they took a survey of mainline churches and asked them simple questions concerning what the bible says. Then, they might not do so well!
