Press On in 2011

This past year I have faced challenges that I have never face before and I am sure I will face many this year. I have found myself in the wilderness many of those days.

A man once said; The trouble with a lot of people is that they want to reach the promise land without going through the wilderness.

If I have learned anything about life, it is this. If I am going to make it to the promise land, and I am, then I must press on!
To stop moving forward means that we have become stagnant and in a backsliden condition. For the word backsliden in the Hebrew means to not move forward. Life is a journey that never ends and for the Christian it is a mandate and command from God that we are to finish the race.

Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

Then in Philippians 3:14 Paul says; Press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

What is the goal that all Christians should be pressing toward? Is it just to build a place of worship or mighty aphasics to worship in? Or is it to gain a certain stature or success or material worth? I don't think so!

I believe we can find the answer to this question in Philippians 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,. Then we will look at chapter Philippians 3:10-16
12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.

In other words Press On! We can't look back, but press on for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. We must keep our eyes fixed and focused on our goals. On the prize and to the author and finisher of our faith. Christ Jesus!

Bro. Frank, I truly admire you for how you have made it through all these trials. I too have been down this road but I have not made it as well as you. Thank you so much for for your witness and testimony!
