A French company is refusing to bow to international criticism of a line of provocative lingerie for four-year-old girls.
Photos on the Jours Apres Lunes website show the girls who are wearing the underwear adorned in adult hairdos and makeup, and some models lounging on deck chairs.
Cathy Ruse of the Family Research Council comments: “The website is outrageous. It's clearly a sexualization of young children. It's disgusting. It's kind of a pedophile's dream what they're presenting here and acting as if it's just a normal line of clothing for children.”
Ruse wonders what parent would consider buying clothing of that nature and permitting their children to wear it.
“My hope is that parents are not going to be pleased when they see the way they're presenting these children and they're not going to buy the clothing, the lingerie,” she says. “I mean, do toddlers need lingerie? The whole thing is just bizarre and it's really disgusting.”
Ruse hopes that, even though the French culture has already gone down a “slippery slope” with this clothing line, the American public will not buy it.
