Another 1929 style depression?

Postby Misfit » 08 Jul 2008, 21:02

The other night my husband and I were watching John McLachlin's program wherein Mort Zuckeman made the comment that he thinks we are in for another depression even worse that that in 1929.

I have read that in several places as well.

In another thread Jeani mentioned that America will be in for punishment if Obama goes into office and we allow Iran to attack Israel.

While I know the USA is in line for discipline from God, I also know He controls history, and I do not believe He will allow Iran to strike Israel until He is ready for that to happen. Knowing that Iran has nuclear power it is easy to believe they could actually turn Israel into a crisp, but not unless God unleashed them and gives the permission to do so. Since the Bible says that Israel will first be attacked by Russia, I somehow think God will restrain Iran from doing as they think they will do.

At any rate, I would like your input on a depression.

In Revelation it talks about a quart of wheat will be sold for roughly $100 during the great tribulation. Have you check the price of a loaf of bread lately?

How close are we? Very close and for the world to reach an economic downfall, then the country that leads the world in free enterprise must fall. I believe that the next president will sent us down that road to immoral bankrupt and financial ruin! JMHO

It is scary isn't it? I often wonder when Japan and China will refuse us any cheap goods anymore and when the middle east will stop selling us oil. When that happens, life as we know it will stop for us in this country. It wouldn't be hard to imagine. Would that be the end of America? A lot of 3rd world countries are there now, so it would only be the end of our world. Oh to go back when everyone was pretty self sefficient, grew veg. gardens, rode horses, and hung their clothes out to dry. Maybe we will all become Amish! ??

I agree.

Yes, thankfully, the Lord is in control.

Yes, He will decide if Israel is ever attack, and when.

It's His timetable, and not ours.

However when a person studies prophecy, and believes the Lord will discipline us for sin, we can know that America is headed for a fall.

Did He not destroy Sodom and Gomarrah, but because of His grace, He saved a few.

Another 'picture' of the Rapture.

Don't lose heart, because throughout scripture, God always saved a small remnant, but many times He did allow them to go into captivity.

Did some of them suffer, yes, according to scripture.

The US is totally depended on oil, and I personally believe the world is being set up for 'oil' to be the hook in Ezekiel in the Magog War.

I see America falling mainly from corruption, turning away from God, and greed!

During World War II, Americans were poor, but they pulled together.

Why, because they still had God in their nation.

Today we're a society, who constantly wants to kick God out, so man's heart has become seared.

Just 'news' about oil makes our gas prices go up.

What happens when oil is withheld from certain nations being Iran, S Arabia, and Iraq being the 'second' largest oil nation?

America will not be like World War II coming together because of their seared hearts.

It will be instant 'perilous times' as mention in 2 Tim 3.

Not to mention what the rest of the world will do.

I, for one, am a spoil American.

I like to eat; stay cool and warm.

God has bless this nation greatly because of His mercy.

We're slowly turning away from Israel so I can see God is slowly removing His blessings from us.

When I see a hurricane coming to Texas, I prepare.

Sometimes the hurricane will turn in a different direction, but I still prepare.

I see Biblically the 'oil problem' as a hurricane coming to America.

We should be preparing even if it doesn't happen in the near future because we're on God's time table.

By preparing I mean knowing that you have accepted Jesus as your personal Savior.

Putting Him first in your life.

Studying His word daily, and praying.

Being a part of 'Christ First Forum' to reach those for Christ,and teaching them how to have a closer walk with the Lord.

Witness to others for Him, sign petitions that are against His teachings, vote for someone who is closes to Him.

Prepare our own finances, and homes as if a hurricane is coming.

Watch the News because the hurricane is coming, but we don't know when or totally how.

However 'oil', beside sin, is one our greatest problem today.

I love Jeremiah.

He was consider the 'weeping prophet.'

Jeremiah was a devoted patriot, wholly committed to God, and to His holiness.

Persecuted by his own people for his bold proclamation of the unwelcome truth about the impending captivity, he never lost his compassion for them.

By study we know Jerusalem was taken by Nebuchadnezzar, and a small remnant was saved.

Jeremiah still sought to turn the remnant back to the Lord.

He also predicted Israel's return to the land in the end time.

Even though Jeremiah is OT, we can still apply it to our lives today.

The belief that we are headed for a major depression is what got me reading the bible. Things were getting so bad so fast I just felt that there was more to it. The more I read on the internet, the more it led me to sites like this. The 'old' me would just sigh and click to the next site. Then I ordered a book, only because it was free. It changed my life and I bought my first bible.

I really believe we are headed for something far worse than 1929, and I believe our government is orchestrating it along. My dog has kidney damage from the tainted dog food episode. We still do business with China. Our babies were poisoned with lead. We still do business with China. I'm not allowed to purchase cheaper drugs from Canada, for my own protection of course. But I can buy expired drugs at inflated prices from big name pharmacies right here and that's ok. Every beef recall is bigger than the last. Medicare is cutting benefits by 10% but someone managed to pay out $92 million to 18,000 doctors who just happen to be dead. Katrina victims got victimized many times by the poisoned mobil homes, and FEMA paying a million dollars a year to store household items that were donated to the victims. The FDA has spent 3 months tracking down the salmonella outbreak that continues to grow. For a job well done, they gave themselves a $35 million bonus. Big Brother can listen to my phone calls, track me on the internet, read my email...all in the name of national security. Where is national security when they ship our sensitive defense contracts over seas?

What about the gas and the food? I heat with oil. Who can afford the thousands it now cost to fill one tank? Will there be heating oil? Electric companies are predicting a 30% increase in rates. Hundreds of thousands are already homeless from foreclosures. Homeless from tornado and flood. Here in Wisconsin, most corn farmers got a late plant because of cold weather, then they lost it to the floods, too late to replant. That story repeats in Iowa and elsewhere. Our government has already given away our national reserve of corn, wheat, soy and dairy....we have no reserves, nada, zip, nothing. Is that really just another case of 'human error' ? It seems so purposefull.

Put all of this together....and then go to war with Iran. It does not paint a pretty picture.
When the economy is gone I believe we will be forced into the north american union.

I should not have started....

I did not go looking for Jesus, but I thank God he found me.... :pray1

I hear you sister!! That was the old me too! Didnt want to hear it even though I have always believed in God. It is amazing how He will pursue you with a passion if He wants to call you child isnt it??

I believe that God will take care of His people, the same way He took care of Elijah, Jonah and Noah. :D

So, you think God will take care of his children? What if you are the only one in your family who is a Christian? Will you still be taken care of? Maybe it will encourage Norm that he needs God now. ? Is there scripture that says we will be taken care of? It's kinda scary.

1 Thessalonians 4:10-11
9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

2 Timothy 4:18
18 And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!

Psalm 23
1 The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
Forever.

Frank, you always come up with some scripture that gives an answer. Is it all in your head? Thanx! I know I shouldn't fear these things. Sweets

No Bonnie, It is not all in my head but in my Spirit. I have not only studied but practiced, preached and most important tried to live the word of God out in my life.

There is a scripture where Paul, Says; It is I who no longer lives but Christ Llives in me.
Hebrews 4:12
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Sister, I am still growing like everyone else in the Lord and I still have to look up scripture, but I am guided by the Holy Spirt in lot of these areas. It is part of what God does in a persons life when they are called and are obedient to that calling.

I am just a humble servant!

I just said to my hubby after reading how the Isralites coming out of Egypt wanted to go back because they missed their fish, melons, cucumbers leeks, onions and garlic.

Numbers 11

5 We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:

6 But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.

I wonder what we will be like when we have the great depression and have no food to eat except what the Lord gives us.

We think in terms of American, Mexican, Italian or Chinese food. When I realized that I could see an alarming type of how some will behave. Of course if you read the
whole scripture in Numbers, it was the mixed multitude who started the cry.
We need to use discernment and try and be with Christians as much as possible during these times to exhort and teach and quote the scriptures.
I do think the time is coming for us, and we will experience some real hurt.
Faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.
