My Son Jamie

Postby AHeartofJoye » 08 Feb 2011, 06:59

Jamie's 'Recruit Class' is going through some pretty grueling physical training as well as book studies.

The instructors punish all for one's slip up, yesterday one of Jamie's fellow recruits 'didn't speak loudly enough' to greet a higher up in the hall.
So all was made to go out doors in their Class C (not PT clothes) and lay down in the cold wet mud and do sit ups and push ups.
Jamie's 'Class C' clothes, belt, boots and all were mud encrusted. Jamie and I both tried to get the mud out, but it had set in by the time he arrived home ):
Jamie took after me, he is detail oriented, and likes things neat and tidy. He keeps his truck in pristine condition. The newly issued belt, is mud stained, the pants too, everything.
This is upsetting to Jamie... but not his fault. They will be punished if their uniforms are not neat, clean, pressed and so on. Jamie took a toothbrush and scrubbed the muddy clothes
and rubbed and scrubbed by hand, soaked them and washed them twice. They did not come clean, they are ruined ): I don't know what they will do about that.

The instructors also punished the class for leaving the locker room messy - the were given 15 minutes to change and shower. There are over 30 recruits and only 3 showers.
So they were again punished by having to go back out doors and run up and down the burn building (flight of 99 stairs) 4 times and then do 2 sets of 40 push ups.
Jamie is home by 7 PM, in bed after dinner, reading, studies, laundry, and prep for the next morn by 10:30 PM, up again at 4AM and at the Academy by 6AM. He's determined, but
I know he is physically drained, it is very stressful and demanding. Next week they start EMT, and unfortunately one of the recruits made a comment that EMT stood for "Easy Money Today"
yep, you guessed it, all had to do more push ups! Some of the recruits were groaning, and the Instructors yelled out, they'd help write the resignation letters if anyone wanted to quit!

Jamie is tired but is determined ... he feels this is his calling in life. God had brought him through to this point and I pray He will continue to pull Jamie through. July can't come soon enough!

Please pray for Jamie to stay strong, stay well, (I think he has a cold) and stay safe. Jamie is pressing on, giving it his all, his very best!

Thank you for your prayers!

Thank you sister (:

Yesterday Jamie came home with a injured knee ):

The Lord brought Jamie through a series of tests to the point of final selection by the Fire Chief - and I thank God for bringing Jamie through. I just pray the Lord will
keep Jamie safe and bring him through the next 23 weeks!

Please keep Jamie in your prayers~

Thank you brother's Frank and Wayne

I know that Jamie is physically drained - tired to the max! He's running on 4 hours of sleep and grueling PT's during the day.
Followed by homework, reading and prep for the next day. He's determined, but in need of rest. God has been there all the days of my son's life, pulling him through each and every
obstacle that life has tossed in his path. Just my son being here on this earth is testimony to the love of God and answered prayer! I have so much to praise the Lord for, and I will pray
with thankfulness in my heart!

Jamie has 23 weeks to go...until graduation. I pray that each day will be easier, and the Lord keep my son safe and strong.

Wow. . .their training is like the military. I never realized that. I'm sure that Jamie will sail through just fine and will be stronger and tougher for it :)

Thank you all, and PRAISE THE LORD! Jamie came in last night and told me his knee felt a lot better - in fact he had run another 4 miles on it without pain!!
God is AWESOME!
