First, let me say thank you to you all for the cards and flowers that you have sent to Joan. So many! Bless you all!
We got a phone call from Joan's chemo nurse, Alicia as to the lab results for the type of chemo that is effective in killing the cancer cells that were in Joan's tumors and body. There will be two drugs, and one is different from last year. She will need to have another EKO done on her heart Monday because the new drug can cause heart problems. The other thing that she will have to do is ice-pack therapy. She will receive a chemo treatment every 3 weeks in the oncologist's office. On the day of chemo, and for four days following chemo, her hands and feet will have to be on ice packs five times a day. On these days, she will not be able to eat hot foods or drink hot drinks, no hot showers, and must wear very loose clothing. Also, she will not be able to be in the sun. Along with the doctor, we still feel very confident that this will destroy whatever cancer cells that might have been missed with the surgery. This drug is very strong and once Joan takes this treatment, she can never again take this type of chemo again as you can only take a certain amount of it in a lifetime.
I tell you all of this because I am really having a hard time processing this, and we need your prayers. When we were first told about this, I just broke down as I watched Joan's eyes fill up with tears and dismay. Unfortunately, there are moments like this that are not pleasant for either of us.
We have now had time to pray and seek the Lord and are more encouraged. I will not give up, and I will not let her give up. With your prayers and support and the strength of the Lord, we know that all things are possible.
Joan and I are so grateful for all of you who stand in the gap daily. In our weakness, He becomes strong. When we decrease, our Lord increases. Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Thanks for allowing me to share with you our journey. Sometimes, I feel as though I'm going to burst if I don't tell somebody how I truly feel.
Servant of the Lord,
Frank
Father we bow before you as your humble servants, and praise you for who you are. Thank you for Joan and Frank; and what they mean to us. We know what they mean to each other, and we know Father what they mean to you. We lift them up to you right now and ask that your hand will be mighty upon them, that they might know the strength and power of your love for them. We leave your will as that...Your will be done, and we will give you all the honor and praise and glory..In Jesus name...Amen
