Noah, Lot, And The End Times
Q. Thanks for your dedicated ministry. I’ve enjoyed reading both your Q&A and your commentaries. Both Lot and Noah are referenced in Luke 17 :26-29 as to what the world would be like at the end of the age. In Noah’s case, only 8 out of millions and with Lot, only him and his family were spared. Looking at what Jesus said, asking if there would any be any faith when he returned (Luke 18:8) do you see a comparison to the full number of Gentiles? Will it be a relatively small number too?

A. In my commentary on Luke 17:20-37, I said that Noah was a type of Israel being preserved through the end times judgments while Lot was a type of the Church being removed from the time and place of judgment before it begins. You’ve raised an interesting point that I hadn’t seen before. In both the days of Noah and the days of Lot, only one family was protected. Jesus compared both to the End Times, so the same will be true then. No one can predict the actual number of either, but Israel is one family, all being descendants of Jacob, and will be preserved through the End Times judgment. And the Church is one family, all being children of God (John 1:12), and will be removed from its time and place before it begins.
