Neighbor's father

Postby WKUHilltopper » 20 Mar 2010, 10:39

Please keep my neighbor's father in prayer. Her father is in a Hospice with cancer. I've asked the Lord to provide me an opportunity yesterday to talk with we her so I could go to the Hospice and discuss "repentance and faith" with him. And that opportunity was provided. The daughter tells me his "church" has been going up there (whatever that means anymore) and spending time with him.

I know at some Hopice operations they tell people, "it's ok to let go". No it's not ok...if you're unsaved. I don't know if this man is saved or not, but I wanted to be able to discuss the Gospel with him while there was a chance.

Lord, please provide an opportunity for Eric to share Jesus and repentance with this man. Father, please open this man's heart to hear your word and grant him repentance for your Glory, in Jesus' Name.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,… (Ephesians 3:20)

Thank you. Although I've been told this gentleman by his daughter that her father has been "in and out" and not coherent. My experience has been, from running a facility taking care of people with Alzheimer's/Dementia--that even if a person is incoherent, confused, wanders around aimlessly, has lack of attention, if you sit down and just talk about calling on the name of Jesus, telling Jesus you're sorry-- the need for repentance and faith that He is who He says He is, you'd be surprised how clam and attentive one will get. One can do this in about 10 minutes actually.

Besides, just as the Scriptures says, it's the Holy Spirit who converts--not us. And I figure He can do anything--so regardless of one's dementia or inability to communicate or comprehend anything else there's always the saving grace of Jesus and the Holy Spirit will get through as all things are possible to God.

Eric,

Praying for you and your opportunity to talk to this man. I also know from experience with hospice that they tell you to give them medication in order for them to pass with as little pain as possible.

This is what makes many incoherent....and while it seems good...it's not when you are needing them to hear the most important message but...

I have heard, not sure if it is true or not that the hearing is the last thing to go....therefore you may not get a response....but keep talking...reading the word...the gospel...because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God!!

Eric, your post here really touched me - your're doing EXACTLY what He wants you to do - reach out, in FAITH. You are supplying the words this man needs to hear, and by faith trusting the Holy Spirit to reach his heart. As you so ably state, the Lord can do that, even in this man's particular medical condition.

Praying for you, brother, to witness to this man, and further praying that he will respond to God's grace. God bless you, and keep up the good work.!!!!!!!!

Folks, this is what we all need to be doing, witnessing for Him, using every opportunity, and in every way, that we can. We KNOW that time is short - let's use it, for HIM.

Eric, I pray that you get this opportunity to share the gospel with this man.

I did not realize that you worked with the elderly in the assisted living home Alzheimer.

You know that I am a chaplain of one of the largest in our area and have been for 8 years, so I know exactly what you are talking about. The mind is an awesome thing but our God who designed it is even more Awesome.

Oh, Frank...you give me way too much credit. And I'm not at all worthy of such accolades.

Eric, you're being used by the Holy Spirit. It's times like these when you just "trust and obey", and let the Holy Spirit do His work. May God bless you. Troy

Eric I'm praying for this man that you requested.

:niip :icda 2 very strong Scriptures that says plenty.

It's not easy to try to talk with anyone when they are in this condition and most want to say forget it
But you have have said in your heart this 1 man is worth it
Accolades you do deserve and to anyone that does the same.

Dear Lord
I lift up this man to you in prayer because he is in need of hearing about you and
all that you can and will do if it is your will.
Please comfort this amn from the cancer that he has and place a healing hedge around him
Please give Eric the right words to reach this man before he is in eternal rest.

Save not only his soul but the souls of all those who is in need of heraing your truth :batr
This I ask in your Son Jesus name Amen
