Mega Churches? Do (can) they truly get the message across?

Postby JWayne » 19 Sep 2010, 10:12

I really wonder if these mega churches do or can truly do God's work effectively? Here is an article concerning the largest "mega churches";

VISTA, CA - Houston's Lakewood Church, with 43,500 members, is still by far the nation's largest, according to a survey conducted by LifeWay Research for Outreach Magazine.

The next three largest churches -- Northpoint Community Church near Atlanta, Second Baptist Church of Houston, and Willowcreek Community Church outside Chicago -- each claim about 24,000 members.

Southeast Christian Church of Louisville, Ky., and California's Saddleback Community Church are ranked fifth and sixth largest with about 19,000 members.

The survey says the fastest growing U.S. churches are 12Stone Church of Lawrenceville, Ga.; Experience Life Church of Lubbock, Texas; The Rock Church and World Outreach Center of San Bernardino, Calif.; People's Church of Oklahoma City; and Faith Church of St. Louis in Fenton, Mo.

That's what I see to Frank, it's nothing more than a show.

I think it totally depends on who the pastor is. Two of those mentioned, as you know, have false teachers as pastors so they definately will not get the message of the Gospel across. The others I am not familar with. There is a mega church in the Pillipines, I think it is, that is on fire for God and is preaching a pure Gospel even tho they have several pastors to handle the size of the congregation. I'll have to research that church and refresh my memory.

Having more than one pastor definitely makes a difference, but it would appear to me that many are lost in the crowd.
