Looking for a scripture passage

Postby januarie » 31 May 2009, 18:50

It seems to me that I remember a scripture passage about the young dying and no one asking why. I don't remember the context of the verse, or even if I am remembering it correctly. I thought it might be in Isaiah but I am stumped. Does anyone know the scripture I am talking about?

Over the last few months we have been losing young people to death in central Nebraska. Accidents have not increased but fatalities have. The kids who have died were not drinking or on drugs, in fact, one 16 year old girl was on her way to school when she can into a cement tuck and was killed. Then, in less that a week, he brother was killed in a similar fashion. A couple weeks ago a young man was dismembered in a motorcycle accident. Yesterday a young family was killed in a head on collision outside of town, only an 18 month old baby survived. The list goes on but because "everybody knows everybody" in central Nebraska, we are all touched by these deaths. This kind of thing may be happening everywhere but maybe we are more conscious of it because we know the people (or at least their surname).

We have never seen anything like this here and that's what got me thinking about the scripture I am looking for.

I'm sorry, Januarie, because I don't know of any scriptures on that subject; however, car wrecks are increasing where I live, too.

My SS teacher was hit in her car about two weeks ago totaling out her car.

She's cover ( I mean 'cover') in bruises over her own body.

She has a sore from the accident,and it's not healing.

She has sugar diabetics,and she's afraid 'staff infection' might be setting in.

We had some teenagers that got killed on my road about two weeks ago, and we found out some more teenagers were killed last night in a car wreck.

They just graduated.

Yes, it seems car wrecks are on the increase here, too.

Thanks for your reply Jeani. "Dying young" seems to be a phenomena here over the past few months and, like I say, we notice it because everybody knows everybody (our population is relatively small, 1 million people in "out state" Nebraska - meaning outside Omaha and Lincoln.) I'll keep looking for the scripture. It's high time I read through Isaiah again anyway. :)

Definitely a message from God. A "wake up" call, that will
most unfortunately not be heeded by many!

I don't know about Isaiah, but what about Jeremiah?

Jeremiah 9:20-22 (New International Version)

20 Now, O women, hear the word of the LORD;
open your ears to the words of his mouth.
Teach your daughters how to wail;
teach one another a lament.

21 Death has climbed in through our windows
and has entered our fortresses;
it has cut off the children from the streets
and the young men from the public squares.

22 Say, "This is what the LORD declares:
" 'The dead bodies of men will lie
like refuse on the open field,
like cut grain behind the reaper,
with no one to gather them.' "
Coincidence is when G-d decides to remain anonymous.

Be not a follower of man,but of the everlasting Lord.

Very powerful verses. Thank you dear.
