Loneliness

Loneliness

Of Americans who ate dinner last night, 22% ate alone. The most terrible poverty is loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted. -Mother Teresa

She was a young, 11 year-old orphan child who had known nothing but the institutional life. She had been shuffled from one orphanage to the next with ease. She defied authority and maintained very poor manners. Her friends were few because of her social ineptitude.

Her heart spent many lonely nights wiping the tears from the pillow wondering where her parents might be and who they were. Her soul panged for a friend, but she had always abused the other orphans with her piercing words of judgment and insult. There wasn't a child who desired to befriend her.

The pain of loneliness continued to gnaw...On one occasion her roommates saw her write a note and hide it in a tree that overhung the orphanage wall. Such a practice was strictly forbidden, so the two girls ran to retrieve the letter once the poor misfit had gone. Their thoughts of blackmail were soon daunted when they read these simple words: "To whoever finds this - I love you!"

Each day millions of lonely and hurting people are looking for a way to let the world know they NEED love. Don't miss an opportunity to share God's love with them.
