I wonder just how many can survive on this

Postby Rainbow » 15 Jul 2011, 12:18

I wonder just how many people can survive on this amount of money if everything still goes up in price. :gues
For myself and Robby we just barely make it now but know that it can be done if need be. :niip :ptl2 that he has watched over us and saw us through some very difficilt times
these passed few months.
For I know that it was him that especially got me through these situations that has shaken me a little but I never stopped believing.

How to retire on Social Security aloneWell, sure it's easier to stop working if you have a pension and a fat 401k, but millions of us don't. Here are 6 ways to stretch those checks.

Dan Curtis expects Social Security to be his largest source of retirement income. The 52-year-old patient advocate for a health insurance company has a few thousand dollars in a 401k, but he finds it difficult to save on a salary of $38,000 a year, before taxes, in Minneapolis. He is also paying off $20,000 in student loan debt and providing child support payments for his two children.

"My retirement future feels pretty uncertain," he says. "If I could make another $10,000 or $12,000 a year, I could probably put some money away."

While it's generally a good idea to supplement your Social Security income with a traditional pension or personal savings, millions of people count on Social Security as their primary source of retirement income. Just over a third (34%) of retirees age 65 and older got 90% or more of their retirement income from Social Security in 2008. And the majority of retirees age 65 and older (64%) get at least half of their retirement income in the form of a Social Security payment.

Getting by on Social Security alone or with a small amount of savings will generally require some cost-cutting. The average monthly Social Security check was $1,178.80 in March 2011. A dual-earner couple, each receiving the average benefit, would receive $28,291.20 annually, which would be adjusted each year for inflation. Here's a look at how you can retire when Social Security is your primary source of retirement income. (Use this MSN Money calculator to see if you're saving enough for retirement.)

1. Maximize your benefit. If Social Security is going to be your biggest source of retirement income, you want to boost your benefit as much as you can. Your highest 35 earnings years are factored into your Social Security payout. Getting raises, working a second part-time job or even delaying retirement could boost your benefits because higher-earning years later in your career will cancel out years in your teens or 20s when you didn't earn as much. Your payout also varies based on the date you sign up for benefits.

They would have wished they would have heard the truth in social security.

The way it sounds. If I am around that long will social security even exist? That is another 25 years away. As for me I get it as SSI. Already the government has frozen checks for the last 2 years. And as of recently retired people may or may not get a check this August.

Obama can pick on the elderly. He knows they are mostly elderly and Caucasian that would have not voted for him in the first place. He is not losing any leverage by doing this. Well actually there are all races in the elderly. But they are not going to be able to stand up against him. The elderly always get picked on. Name it. Whether it is the hospital the nursing homes the passing high school kids now Obama is the next person to pick on the elderly.

Put yourself in their shoes. One day you’re going to be the Elderly. Do you want to be treated like that?

Ask Anna as my witness. There was an old guy in the hospital named Paul. The Nurses and Loyola were plainly making fun of Paul. Their job is taking care of patients. Not to make their lives worse. They were having a field day on Paul because he is elderly because he was medicated. . Al Paul could do is get mad. Then call security on him. Yet the nurses got him angry. That’s not fair. Loyola is to me a crooked Hospital. Do not trust what the doctors tell you there. They got plenty of lies. They are not good listeners. They think they are know it alls. Loyola is over all a trashy hospital. Don’t be fooled by their looks these doctors are getting paid to make people worse off in Health.

As for Social security nothing is guaranteed at this point. What will they do next with social security? Don’t trust Obama. He is like one of those uncaring workers at the nursing homes or Hospitals. As long as He gets his pay check he doesn’t care what is yours. He keeps blaming our debt on the elderly as well. Come there are lots more reasons we are in debt and there other places to cut money. Picking on the helpless that is what Obama is very good at. One day He will be old. Let’s see what happens to him.
