Hi from Sorrento

Good morning family :) We've just spent two days in Sorrento. We were going to go to the Amafie coast from there but the bus drivers went on strike so we took a train and came back to Naples. Anyway, we took a ferry from the Bay of Naples across to Sorrento which was only a half hour ride. At the entrance of the harbor there is a statue of a Pope lifting his arm blessing the fleet. Sorrento truly is a beautiful spot. Orange trees loaded with oranges line the main streets and wisteria hangs everywhere. Lemons are what they are famous for so they make everything lemon and I love lemon :)) What impressed me the most was the overt worship of Mary as a goddess. These people have not fallen far from their pagan roots of worship. If anyone evers doubts that the Roman Catholic system has replaced Jesus with Mary and the saints, they need to travel to a European or Hispanic country. I peeked in several of the churches which are on every corner. No matter how small and humble the church is, the alter is elaborate with a huge, lit painting or statue of either Mary holding a very strange looking child suposed to be Jesus or a depiction of Mary's conception. It's Isis and Nimrod all over again and they look the same. It's truly sad and I found myself praying for so many of the little old ladies walking to mass every morning. The spiritual oppression overshadows everything. Nothing has changed except the names of the gods and goddesses. Even the old gods and goddesses still have their place in this society. This afternoon we're driving to Herculeium and Pompei. I'm a little weary of visiting these pagan temples etc., but Mt. Vesuvius facinates me and I'm looking forward to going there. I'll tell you all about it when we get back tonight. It's a short drive from here. . . .well, short distance, long drive because of the horrendous traffic. I have never had such a hard time trusting God with my life than when in this traffic. God bless you all!!!

Well sounds like someone is having fun!! YEP the catholic cult is so everywhere that it is scary. The hispantics keep the velvet pictures of Mary and light candles with her and other saints and popes on them. I never could get that. My wife had several of them. When we were in for bad weather she would light one of them. Do they let you pick the fruit?? It would be hard to get them back to the states. Bugs and all. LOL!! I wouldnt worry about going to the temples. God wont hold it against you!! :) You just keep having enough fun for all us!!! God Bless you and your and family!!

Miss you sister!
Thank you for keeping in touch, and we are all looking forward to your photos :)
Reading about your experience with the Roman Catholics reminded me of my second marriage...lol.
(I was married to a Roman Catholic - mistake #2 - his family still is angry at me because I didn't allow our child to be 'Baptized' when he was born.
I have Southern Baptist roots and we just don't do that).
Enjoy your family time and let your little light shine for Jesus!
Love in Christ,
~Joye
