It would be interesting to see how each of us look at this.

What are your ideas on Halloween and what does it mean to you?

Well, I couldnt pick an option since I am kinda in the mix right now. This is something Im struggling with. We have ghosts, skeletons...etc We have a little haunted house set up in the basement. Its a walkthrough. You go through it, (hell) then go up the steps to the upstairs (Heaven) and theres where kids learn the meaning of Hell and Heaven. We hand out tracts and discuss how to "stay away from the scary stuff". We do not allow devils, witches or demons but we do read Scripture that points to them and all the real danger that they can cause. As I said before, I struggle with it right now. I know it can be used for good somehow and thats what Im exploring with this year in my basement. All free of charge of course. Many kids are already planning on coming so hopefully, It will bring about some understanding of the real dangers of satan.

Hermenuetics---- a practice if half the church learned...would erase most denominations and plenty of abberant practices.

Techie, Thanks for the link! Great article! I refere to this site quite often.

If you don't cut out your lights, then do you just ignore the trick or treaters. In my neighborhood they will drive me crazy ringing the doorbell.

I put a box of New Testament bibles on the front porch and have a sign that says take one, Free no Trick! I average giving out at least a dozen bibles each year that way!

Great article Techie! I enjoyed reading through it. I didn't agree with the churches shouldn't have a hallelujah night (or whatever others call it) Ive seen it keep a lot of kids off the streets. Halloween is a weakness of mine and we have toned it down quite a bit. Actually, most holidays are pagan-ish. Christmas and Easter included. I know there's definitely a difference because Halloween is surrounded by evil but they all have their pagan roots. What do you guys think?

We have a 'Fall Festival' at our church to replace Halloween so I do turn my lights out at my house.

Grrrr I will try this again.. my puter cut off on me and I lost everything I had typed , thats is why I don't come on, I get kicked off ...
AS I was saying,.... well I forgot what i had typed...so just say I don't do this.. and its not a happy time, children are kidnapped and sacrificed on this high satan nite..
It is dangerous for children to be out , because more are kidnapped at this time of year than other times..
I don't understand how Christians can be so down on keeping the Ten Commandments, but have no prob with keeping a pagan day.. yell and condem anyone keeping days that are mentioned in the Bible, but will spend money .. actually, I have heard the people spend more money on halloween, than they do any othertime..
Halloween( Pagan ) .. the people of God are commanded by God not to take on the customs of pagans..
halloween is the name for the eve of samhain , a celebration marking the beginning of winter as well as the first day of the new year within the ancient celtic culture of Brithish Isles.
The time of Samhain consited of eve of the feast and the day inself Oct 31 and Nov. 1 .
On this occasion , it is believed that a GATHERING OF SUPERNATURAL FORCES OCCURRED as durning no other period of the year.
The eve of Samhain were characterized as a time when the barriers between the human and supernatual worlds were broken.

Otherworldly entries , such like the souls of the dead, were able to visit earthly inhabitants, and humans could take the opportunity to pentrate the domains of gods and supernatual creatures .
Sacrifices of animals and human beings , this was to appease supernatual powers..to put it bluntly, it was and is a blaten time given in appeasing demonic spirits and the dark side of the spirit world.. no Christian should take any part in this, have no appearance of this time in anyway

don't acknowlege it with anything, in anyway ..

I celebrate it with having fun with my family, I dont worship any demons, devils and I dont think that the dead can come back and speak to people. Im willing to admit that I shouldnt be doing it, maybe finding another way to keep the kids in my family (and others) away from the streets, but for right now, I know they will be here with us, reading Bible tracts and not out in the world doing God only knows what. Christmas also has it pagan roots, but most Christians dont have a problem with that. Easter is also another pagan holiday. I know there is a difference but the core of them all is pagan. I am studying on the feasts of the Bible right now and when God moves me I will give up all of the worldy celebrations such as Halloween, Christmas and Easter and only celebrate them. :D

In all that you do, do it for the glory of God!

Halloween is now the second most observed holiday of the American people next to Christmas. That means Resurection Sunday or what some people refer to as Easter Sunday falls under it. Sad!

I say that no matter what Holiday, and no matter what time of the year, We should use that time in season and out of season to give an answer to this lost and dying world for our hope! The method may vary, but the message does not. Jesus is still the Answer!

Glad you are redeeming the time..
Yes I have a problem with Easter and Christmas too, I don't do Easter, I don't go to the so called Sunrise service, which is Sunrise worship, the Churchs here join togather up on the Olivet Cemetery and face the East and wait for the Sun to come up, when it does they start singing.. I call that SunRise Worship..

I do , do Christmas though, but not very well, I don't mind buying my children things, I do it all the time, well not so much now that I am retired, I do buy more for my great granddaughter..
I am usually depressed at this time of year , and my sister inlaw wraps the gifts for me, I am not into it.. don't even want to decorate, nothing, but do put up a little tree with lights on it.. I find it all silly ya know... just think, who would bring a tree into their house in Aug and decorate it, or go out on a spending sprew, so why do it in Dec. ..don't it all seem silly..

Yeshua is not a baby in a Manger, or coloured eggs in a basket carried by a rabbit.. , He is sitting at the right hand of the Father

Its really hard to stop celebrating Christmas and Easter when you're entire family still celebrates it. My daughter is what keeps me doing it I guess...I dont want her to feel bad. We have told her the real meaning of it all though and also teaching her about Biblical Feasts.

This is good sweetie, children need to know why and who we are giving reconition to on this day, not why and what the world does it for..

My Grandchildren were never brainwashed into believing in man in a Red Flight Suit, tha t knew every child by name, could see every child and know who was bad and good.
They never believed that anyone but God knows that and only God can be everywhere at one time..

When their other grand parents ( mothers parents ) would ask them what santa was bringing them, they would tell them..nothing, we don't believe in him,,, but God...
and they would tell them who was getting them gifts.. if they did not get something they wanted, it was not because they were bad, it was because it cost to much, or could not be found..and believe me, they got plenty, and still do..

If we all consider what we recieved at Christmas was because of our worth/because of our being good , we would get little, or at least I know I would get little.. but if I did not get a thing, it is not because I am bad either....
I use to do a lot of decorating, fixed a Christmas table, then stopped some years ago, but before that I would say I was notgoing to do all that, and my grandchilden would say, " G-Ma, you haft to do the Christmas table hahaha..and I would for them, but now they are grown.. 22 & 24 years old.. so I can get by with not doing a lot of decorating..:)

Christy, have I told you lately that I love you?? if not, I really do a lot, you are a joy, and your heart is full of love for Yeshua, your brothers and sisters and for the lost, may God continue to use you so much and often in His service.

I was involved in drama lessons and we used to have a costume party of sorts and I had prizes :/ then i quit and just stay home now cuz ''real world'' partying is too chaotic and havoc for me :/
