God's Morals

Postby Elijah » 18 Apr 2011, 15:42

I'm a christian, and I have an atheist that is questioning the "stoning of children", "The raping of women", and the "Killing of everyone when you conquer a country", that is outlined in Numbers, and deuteronomy. How do I approach this, concerning the morality of God.

I would never try to give an atheist an answer as to why God does anything except from scripture and it to be biblically based. Secondly to argue with a fool is futile. Debating spiritual matters with a lost person and especially one who says he does not believe in God is useless. Point him to scripture. Give Him the plan of salvation. We do not have to ever prove there is a God or why He does anything.

It might help if you can give a little more about this conversation between him and you.

Elijah, I would like to know more about this individual. Is their more you can tell me?

I have dealt with a lot of people like that over the years and just dust my feet off and pray for them. Remember the scripture in Psalm 14:1 where it says a fool in his heart says their is no God! It also says do not argue with a fool.

Just point them to Jesus!

Elijah...it's very sweet that you are concern for this person...

Frank is right...

All you can share with them is the 'plan of salvation' because scripture says the un natural man understandeth not...

Share how you got saved, and what Christ means to you...

Try sharing Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23a; Romans 5:8:Romans 6:23b on how to be saved...

Sometimes God wants us to just 'plant the seed' in them or 'lead them to the Lord in the sinner's prayer.'

When they will not accept God's Word, then it's time to 'dust' our feet off from them...

I always pray for God to place someone before me to witness with...

God Bless..

The natural man is unable to read anything from the Word and find the truth. If one were to take the time to explain each passage the unbeliever has misunderstood, he still wouldn't understand it. Frank and Jeani are correct. It's only the Holy Spirit who can open the eyes of the blind. As we express the love of Christ, some will be drawn to the Author of our faith and only then will they truly see. Let your friend see Christ in you so he will desire what you have. :)

In the Old Testament, God wanted certain peoples wiped out because their evil was great before the Lord. However, I don't remember God ordering the "stoning of children" and "raping women". Where in Scripture does it talk about THAT? And remember. . .God's ways are not our's. Until we are with Him, we will never understand His ways. Many times, all you can do is pray for that person's eyes to be opened to the truth.

I feel that the person you are talking to is really off somewhere on their thinking. I agree with Carmela. Where in the bible does it talk about stoneing children and rapping women?? Let him show you where that is written in the bible since this person is throwing that out to you answer. It is useless tring to get someone like this to read or want anything to do with the bible. They usually have no clue about the bible. I know from personal experience. I was that way 11 months ago. Nothing you say or do would convince me that God had anything but pain and suffering for my life. So I would just pray for them and let them know you are praying for them and just let it go from there.
