How often?
Matthew 18:21-22
Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”
22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.
490 times was just a number to show how great the forgiveness should be, but we are to always forgive one another. Forgiveness is forgetting. Jesus forgave us and God cast our sins as far as the east to the west, never to be remembered anymore. When Jesus said it was finished, that meant our debt had been paid in full. Forgiven, covered and washed in the blood of the Lamb.
Why?
Matthew 6:14-15
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
