The head of a national organization that opposes obscenity and indecency says Congress has been asked to make a choice between families and porn.
Pat Trueman, CEO of Morality in Media (MIM), makes note of a letter the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) -- an organization he says does not advocate for the protection of children -- sent to members of Congress contending that porn producers and distributors should not be prosecuted because they are not producing obscenity under existing laws.
"Who are they to claim that they are protecting children? They are the very ones that provide unfiltered pornography, obscene pornography, to the children in America," Trueman contends.
Pat TruemanMeanwhile, Morality in Media and PornHarms.com have already gathered signatures from more than 100 members of Congress, asking the Department of Justice to prosecute obscenity.
