Depression

Postby Carmela » 27 Feb 2011, 16:02

Jeani Fuller asked me if I would post this for her on CFF. So, here it is.

God gave us the emotion of depression, but for some, it is more than an emotion...

For some it's an 'chemical imbalance' within the mind or body...

Every one suffers from some kind of depression, but when it takes CONTROL of a person is when you need help...

Before Christ returns for His Church, we're going to experience very hard times...

Now is the time to make SURE you know the Lord as Your Personal Savior...

If there was a TIME that you make Him your Savior, and later through spiritual growth, you made Him Your LORD...

If you haven't, you can pray right now for the Lord to SAVE you...

It's sooo easy, and the Lord will DO THE REST....

I just attended a 22 year old boy's funeral Friday who committed suicide...

Our church was full, and soo many young people attended...

The boy's grandfather, also, had committed suicide, so I believe through studying mental illness and my own son's experience, a chemical imbalance runs through the mother...

There is two grown children left...

Until we are BOLD enough to EDUCATE members/families in Church, mental illness will continue to be a SECRET,and it's hard to reach those who are thinking about sucide..

If anyone should be UNDERSTANDING, it should be the CHURCH...

Sooo many are JUDGE that they keep secret because mental illness is very much TABOO,and the families stay in denial or the person doesn't get the help...

You can receive all the prayers you want when you have a son or daughter who are living in sin,but you cannot bring up mental illness, that has struck your son or daughter which no one wanted..

You can be a VICTIM to mental illness...

I feel God has been leading me many times to STEP OUT,and share my knowledge and experiences of mental illness, but I've never been able to STEP OUT...

As parents you can be in sooo much PAIN seeing your own child suffering, and as a wife, seeing your own husband NOT ABLE to handle the stress, being the disease comes through him...

It's very hard, because each one of us needs someone as support, but I have learn to depend on God.

It's a 'daily walk' or should I say' take up the cross daily', trying to KEEP MY DEPENDANCE TOTALLY ON THE LORD...

Sometimes I fall, and allow depression to seep in, but depression never stays with me...

My prayer time with the Lord is sooo important to me,and I TOTALLY, TOTALLY believe GOD is the one who can hold my son together, until He takes him home...

So I ask you, if you know of someone who is DEPRESS, you will not JUDGE; you will tell the person you will PRAY FOR THEM...

You will be a FRIEND TO THEM or a SHOULDER FOR THEM TO LEAN UPON...

I believe God has His time for anyone to died so this boy was allow to died, but I also believe, we can help those who are SUFFERING with a death that many can not understand...

I encourage you to BE THAT PERSON...

God Bless...

Jeani is always asking for you Frank. . .and Joan and CFF. I think she'll eventually come back because she mentioned that she would like to. I'll pass your wishes on to her.

Thanks!

I for one can relate and have had bouts of depression. My testimony gives evidence of this. frank-s-testimony-t1295.html

I personally do not look at depression as an emotion but, emotion is the by product of depression and most of the time it produces negative emotions. My father who was dealing with depression long term took a gun and shot himself in the head. The depression kicked off negative emotions such as confusion, desperation, frustration, and the list goes on. Alcohol was also a contributing factor in his bouts of depression also.

No matter what, why and how depression comes about their is a hope. If I did not think that anything is possible with God then I might as well throw the towel in now.

There is hope in Him for deliverance for all who goes through depression. One of the best scriptures to help fight depression of all kinds is Philippians 4:8-9 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Carmela, please tell her that we would definitely love to have her back. It hurts when the family is not all here.

I am sorry about your father Frank. Depression is one of the hardest things that mentally ill people have to deal with. I maybe wrong on this statement but I know that the people I know who have any form of mental illness suffer with depression. In no way am I saying that anyone who has depression is mentally ill. I know from my own illness that I suffer from depression. It is a lonely disease. If the people around you dont suffer with it they dont understand. My own grandfather cried and said I dont understand how the little boy who spent so much time with us has grown into someone who is so sick. The little boy who at a restaurant would stand up in the booth and tell total strangers that this is my mawmaw and pawpaw. That was one of the hardest moments for me. I didnt have an answer except to say I am sick. I cant really explain how it effects every aspect of your life when it hits. You dont want to do anything. There is nothing but doom and gloom that hits and hits hard. I go thru spells where all I can do is just cry. A grown man sitting on the floor crying like a child. It is a fight to get out of bed. You dont want to eat. The littlest thing can send you reeling. This a disease I would not wish upon anyone. It has cost me deeply. I have lost my son, my wife, and my in laws. I would not attend their functions. I was to sick to go. Yes please pray for the people who suffers from this. There is nothing you can do for them other than be an ear and friend. :thns
