Christian school puts beliefs to practice

Postby JWayne » 20 Aug 2010, 21:39

A Christian school in California is taking heat for firing four teachers and seven other employees over their religious beliefs, but a church official with the school is defending the decision.

The Crossroads Christian Schools in Corona, California, have recently come back under the umbrella of Crossroads Christian Church. Executive pastor Mike Long tells OneNewsNow the dismissals centered on the desire to enforce the school's decades-old statement of faith.

"We just agreed it was time for us to start practicing what we believed and acknowledging and sticking to what we believed -- and that's what we did," he explains.

Mike Long (Crossroads Christian Church)Administrators informed the employees that they should attend Bible-believing churches and adhere to tenets consistent with those of Crossroads Church, such as baptism by emersion.

I believe that it is more than time to take a stand for our beliefs, at home at work or at school.
I have to admit, I was surprised at the stand this school took, for there beliefs. I was expecting to see them ask atheists or Muslims to leave, those people who didn’t believe in God or a different God.

It surprised me to see it was mostly Catholics that were asked to leave.
I must admit I am unsure that this was the best way to stand up for our beliefs, after all we should do all things in love

I think a better way would have been to say
These are our beliefs, we know the Catholic church has some beliefs we don’t hold to. Please only talk about biblical truths and not about catholic doctrine. Is this something that we can agree upon?

When I first became a Christian, I heard the saying that the Christian army is the only army to shoot their wounded

I think that statement has a lot of truth to it.

I am not saying this church did wrong, but my heart goes out to those who lost their jobs, after all this school did hire them in the first place

I applaud this church for doing what they did, and should have been done sooner, much sooner.

I see two very important statements to this story!
The Crossroads Christian Schools in Corona, California, have recently come back under the umbrella of Crossroads Christian Church.

Apparently the school had been allowed to run independently from the church for some time.

Secondly:
He feels the administration gave employees ample time to make a decision, pointing out that they were given a year "to appreciate that we were aligning and re-aligning ourselves, and we gave them a year to ask any questions."

The church gave the teachers or employees plenty of time to either accept these rules or statements of faith and practice or to leave.

This is simply what is refereed to as church discipline!

I say Bravo!
