Both sides unhappy with Ark. governor

Gov. Mike Beebe (D-Arkansas)On Tuesday night the governor of Arkansas did something that no other sitting governor from that state had ever done, leaving one conservative Christian scratching his head.
For the first time an Arkansas governor spoke to a homosexual-rights advocacy group. But in his address before the Stonewall Democrats, Governor Mike Bebee maintained his support for traditional marriage between a man and a woman, and answered no when asked if he thought "gay marriage" or civil unions would ever become law in his state.
Jerry Cox, president of Arkansas Family Council, tells OneNewsNow that Stonewall Democrats is so far out of step with Arkansans he is surprised that the Democrat spoke to them.
Jerry Cox (Arkansas Family Council)"The governor seems to be kind of stuck between conservatives who are disappointed that he went and spoke to the group to begin with, and the group itself [Stonewall Democrats] that didn't like the fact that he said that he didn't support gay marriage or civil unions or domestic partnerships or any of that stuff," Cox offers.
"So I'm not sure if the governor had this to do over if he would even bother to go speak to that group, in light of the fact that he didn't seem to make anybody happy by being there."
Cox agrees with the governor that Arkansas will not be going the way of New York and legalizing same-gender marriage. "And I think that bodes well for us as a people and as a state," he adds, "because that means we're adhering to a biblical view of marriage, which is a good thing."
Bebee did tell the group that he favors same-sex couples being foster parents.
