Be Angry But Do Not Sin

November 16 | Taken from a message by Adrian Rogers

Ephesians 4:26-27 says, “Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.”

There’s nothing that will do more damage to your home than unwanted, unwarranted anger. If you’re married, you should never go to bed with your backs to one another or in separate beds because you are angry.

If you are an angry person or given to anger, let me tell you what the Bible says about you and it won’t be flattering. First, the Bible says you are foolish: Proverbs 14:29 says, “He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.” And Ecclesiastes 7:9 says, “Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.”

Number two, you have a weak character. Proverbs 16:32 says, “He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.” If you cannot rule your own spirit, you’re never going to conquer anything else. Uncontrolled anger is like throwing a rock into a wasp’s nest.

James 1:19-20 says, “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.”

Amen Frank...

Seems like 'everyone' is angry today especially what is happening to our country...

I, personally believe, that our country would not be in this sadden condition IF the church would deal with sin,and TRULY turn back to God...

Sad to say that many professing Christians JUSTIFIED voting against the abortion bill in Mississippi....

I guess, if we are angry, we can point our finger back at ourselves...

Amen! Anger can also lead to hate.
