OWENSBORO, KY - A Kentucky Baptist organization has cut ties with an Owensboro church that lets a homosexual support group meet in its building.
The Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer reports that churches that belong to the Daviess-McLean Baptist Association voted 242-24 to remove Journey Fellowship.
The Baptist group's moderator, the Rev. Tommy Webb, said he and most of his fellow pastors believed that the definition of family was at stake.
Journey Fellowship pastor Bob Coons said he had hoped for a different outcome but wasn't surprised.
Coons told association officials in June that his church's relationship with Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) was not a sponsorship but an offer to share building space.
