Atheist Group: Trade Your Bibles in for Porn

A campus atheist group began its attention-seeking holy book-for-porn program on Monday at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

For three days, members of Atheist Agenda will give students pornographic magazines in exchange for any religious texts as part of their annual “Smut for Smut” campaign. Leaders of the atheist group argue that religious books contain violence, spark religious wars, advocate for the mistreatment of women and are therefore no better than pornography.

“It's a First Amendment right,” said Bradley Lewis, 18, who plans to join the Atheist Agenda, according to the San Antonio Express-News. “If religious groups can put out missionaries and go knock on my door and wake me up at 7 a.m. on a Saturday morning, I can put a table outside of the college.”

As expected, the group’s action has offended religious students. A group of Christians gathered to protest the event and in the afternoon a Christian student debated the Atheist Agenda president, Carlos Morales.

The event attracted hundreds of students to the university’s main plaza Monday. Some of the students were seen carrying signs with messages such as, “Jesus Saves” and “Jesus loves the Atheist Agenda,” while others sang hymns, according to the UTSA student newspaper The Paisano.

Robin Lorkovic, 18, who held the sign, “God Loves You! Keep your Bible and learn from it!,” said, “I don’t really feel like that is appropriate at all,” according to the Express-News.

“I am a Christian, I believe in God’s love and I am here to stand my ground and stand up for what I believe in.”

University officials admit that the atheist event is controversial and the majority of students do not agree with it. But they also said the event is legal and students have the right to freedom of speech and assembly.

“They (Atheist Agenda) admitted it’s a publicity stunt,” said Michelle Brossart, a UTSA student who is offended by the event, to The Paisano. “They want to evoke crazy emotions out of people because they want to make their agenda known."

“But only very, very few people are actually gaining anything from this,” she said.

Atheist Agenda began the “Smut for Smut” campaign at UTSA in 2005. The first campaign gained major media attention across the nation. Subsequent events have also attracted national coverage, but to a lesser extent.

First I know this can be an upsetting issue to many Christians. I am concerned but not mad. Why is this? Jesus told us to Love our Enemies. This is very difficult to do. Actually when you really think about it we once were not with God. Even some of us who believed there was a God we would still do against knowing what God said. Everyone knows at least about not lying stealing and killing. Many have seen the 10 Commandments movie Charleston Heston. Maybe perhaps this being Old Testament people may not get the real idea of God in The New Testament the new covenant. God is not like you know bringing plagues that I know of. If God is He is the only one and Angels of his service that would know.

We need to step in the other person’s shoes. Please understand these Atheists don’t believe in God. Are they really bad people. It is hard to say it depends on each person. These atheists are getting the wrong idea perspective of God. By Hating them we will not win them to Christ. It is by Love and Mercy and forgiveness. We need to set a good example before them who do not know there is a God. If we yell at them or any such it will only scare them thinking you are violent also just like those whom don’t believe. How different are you Christians than us?. I used to have a friend who was an Atheist. I of course told her about Jesus. She never came to believe but. She was not all bad in all ways. Because of her friends she picked up bad language and Music. But actually she has her nice points also. Who can be a nice person and Love animals. I hoped over time maybe I could get her to understand. But her friends always get in the way telling her all the garbage. I certainly knew she was young. She needed more Life experience. She lived with her mom at 21 years old but we were friends online at one time. When I became blind she stopped talking to me. Why? I am not sure. . Sadly to say many like these Atheists have the wrong view of the True Real God. He is not a violent God or promotes Violence. See this is history in The Bible. This God is real. I was once a skeptic not in the Belief of God but The Bible. Basically I thought God was more of a spectator just watching. And prayers were not real. It seems to these to them that are doing this Bible exchange with Porn there is No God. And this is a bad book. . Jesus tells us if you tell them about me but they don’t listen to you they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me. Look as long as these people believe this they have no real future. You need to be like the preacher in the book The Cross and The switchblade that helped to bring gangs to Christ. The Bible tells us we were once enemies to The Lord. Also that Jesus well God showed his Love that Jesus died while we were still sinners. These are the one Jesus Cried out for saying Forgive them Father they don’t know what they are doing. This group of Atheists doesn’t know God. Therefore they don’t know who they are really against. As long as they are not hitting others or calling names this is their expression against God and The Bible. God did not force us and neither will He force these atheists. Jesus said you will be hated by all Nations for my names sake. They hate God and perhaps hate you also. That is part of being a Christian being hated. I’m not the judge of these people all we can do is Witness to them if possible if they will speak in peace about God and The Bible. If they get all upset and don’t want to hear this. They can not be reached at least not at this time. If they were hurting Christians then I would be upset I honestly would say. The Atheists here think this is their freedom and peaceful way to show their unbelief in God and The Bible. You may express your hatred. Just don’t hurt anyone physically or with cussing words. If you believe God is violent, then you don’t know The Lord. And if you knew the Lord it was because of violence that He brought the great flood in Noah’s days. God hates violence. And He doesn’t like those porn magazines. You’re not hurting God one ounce. You who trade porn with Bible or Christian anything you’re only hurting yourself. You’re against God almighty himself. God loves you but you chose not to believe instead you reject and hate him. Keep on doing this but if you don’t turn before it is too late. You’re going to be sorry you were against God. I hope for this not to be. But we know the end results of those who oppose God all the way until they die. And we know God is forgiving to those whom have opposed him and turn to him while they live. Atheists you have a choice. You’re with or against God there is no 2 ways about it. He is Loving and is not violent. You think so? But you got the wrong idea of whom God really is and teaches us.
