Activist: NAACP has 'sold its soul'

Postby JWayne » 28 Dec 2011, 09:38

Organizations claiming to advocate for civil rights are concerned about a proposed law that would ban the practice of aborting unborn babies on the basis of race or gender, but one advocate is especially dismayed with one particular group that typically sides with pro-abortion policies.

Legislators met December 20 to hear arguments for the proposed Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act of 2011. The bill would create civil penalties for anyone knowingly involved in an abortion procedure "based on the sex, gender, color or race of the child, or the race of a parent of that child" (see earlier story).

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and 46 other groups expressed to the subcommittee complaints that the bill "would exacerbate health disparities," but Jerome Hudson, spokesperson for Project 21, The National Leadership Network of Black Conservatives, has an issue with that.

Jerome Hudson (Project 21)"It is again appalling that the NAACP is siding with Margaret Sanger, who founded the Planned Parenthood," he comments. "Why are they siding with this woman when her stated goal was to kill colored people through abortion and eugenics?"

And Hudson questions the motives of the NAACP, which could reason that it is to the "advancement" of "colored people" to oppose a bill that would make racially motivated abortions illegal.

"It has basically sold its soul to the abortion lobby, and it is nothing more than a political interest group, and they support the most extreme and far-left agenda in this country," he laments.

Representative Trent Franks (R-Arizona) is the bill's sponsor.
