A letter from Jesus about Christmas...

Postby JWayne » 11 Dec 2010, 21:31

Dear Children,

It has come to my attention that many of you are upset that folks are taking My name out of the season. Maybe you’ve forgotten that I wasn’t actually born during this time of the year and that it was some of your predecessors who decided to celebrate My birthday on what was actually a time of pagan festival, although I do appreciate being remembered anytime. How I personally feel about this celebration can probably be most easily understood by those of you who have been blessed with children of your own. I don’t care what you call the day. If you want to celebrate My birth, just GET ALONG AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER. Now, having said that let Me go on. If it bothers you that the town in which you live doesn’t allow a scene depicting My birth, then just get rid of a couple of Santas and snowmen and put in a small Nativity scene on your own front lawn. If all My followers did that there wouldn’t be any need for such a scene on the town square because there would be many of them all around town. Stop worrying about the fact that people are calling the tree a holiday tree, instead of a Christmas tree. It was I who made all trees. You can remember Me anytime you see any tree. Decorate a grape vine if you wish: I actually spoke of that one in a teaching, explaining who I am in relation to you and what each of our tasks were. If you have forgotten that one, look up John 15: 1 – 8. If you want to give Me a present in remembrance of My birth here is my wish list.

Choose something from it:

1. Instead of writing protest letters objecting to the way My birthday is being celebrated, write letters of love and hope to soldiers away from home. They are terribly afraid and lonely this time of year. I know, they tell Me all the time.

2. Visit someone in a nursing home. You don’t have to know them personally. They just need to know that someone cares about them.

3. Instead of writing George complaining about the wording on the cards his staff sent out this year, why don’t you write and tell him that you’ll be praying for him and his family this year. Then follow up. It will be nice hearing from you again.

4. Instead of giving your children a lot of gifts you can’t afford and they don’t need, spend time with them. Tell them the story of My birth, and why I came to live with you down here. Hold them in your arms and remind them that I love them.

5. Pick someone that has hurt you in the past and forgive him or her.

6. Did you know that someone in your town will attempt to take their own life this season because they feel so alone and hopeless? Since you don’t know who that person is, try giving everyone you meet a warm smile; it could make the difference.

7. Instead of nit picking about what the retailer in your town calls the holiday, be patient with the people who work there. Give them a warm smile and a kind word. Even if they aren’t allowed to wish you a “Merry Christmas” that doesn’t keep you from wishing them one. Then stop shopping there on Sunday. If the store didn’t make so much money on that day they’d close and let their employees spend the day at home with their families

8. If you really want to make a difference, support a missionary- especially one who takes My love and Good News to those who have never heard My name.

9. Here’s a good one. There are individuals and whole families in your town who not only will have no “Christmas” tree, but neither will they have any presents to give or receive. If you don’t know them, buy some food and a few gifts and give them to the Salvation Army or some other charity which believes in Me and they will make the delivery for you.

10. Finally, if you want to make a statement about your belief in and loyalty to Me, then behave like a Christian. Don’t do things in secret that you wouldn’t do in My presence. Let people know by your actions that you are one of mine. Don’t forget; I am God and can take care of Myself. Just love Me and do what I have told you to do. I’ll take care of all the rest. Check out the list above and get to work; time is short. I’ll help you, but the ball is now in your court. And do have a most blessed Christmas with all those whom you love.

I have a lot of reservations about this.

For me, I never like it when someone writes in the person of God or Jesus unless it is from scripture.

There is a radio program on Sunday morning called the Jesus show where a man calls himself Jesus and the people that calls in refers to him as Jesus.

That bothers me!

It bothered me when the movie "Oh, God!" came out in the 70's. George Burns played God.
To me this movie came off as a mockery of Christ - later there came the movie "Bruce Almighty" where God gave His powers to Jim Carey. Again, this threw up red flags for me.
When I see and read things such as the letter...I think how wrong is wrong, even though it seems right. The right motive may be here for the letter, but the facts are it reads as though it is
of our Lord, by His hand. Only the Bible is His word, by His hand. The author means well, but I agree with brother Frank, I'm not so comfortable with it.

Yes, it upsets me and upsets me that they curse you and blaspheme your name. It also upsets me to see those who call themselves Christians and never take a stand for you! It also upsets me to hear others talk as if they were you and thus saith the Lord, When all along it is from ones own interpretation and words.

If you have forgotten that one, look up John 15: 1 – 8. If you want to give Me a present in remembrance of My birth here is my wish list.

Lord, you know my heart and try my best to abide and walk in your word daily. I am so grateful for what you have done for me, and will not telling till you come!

1. Instead of writing protest letters objecting to the way My birthday is being celebrated, write letters of love and hope to soldiers away from home. They are terribly afraid and lonely this time of year. I know, they tell Me all the time.

Lord, as your child and knowing that you never try and put your children on a guilt trip. I may not have written letters of love to a soldier in a far off land, but I pray for them when prompted by you. I have told and tried to show my love for my wife and family and do it daily, not just one time a year.

2. Visit someone in a nursing home. You don’t have to know them personally. They just need to know that someone cares about them.

I know that pure and spotles religion is visiting the widows and orphans but some of my friends and brethren can't do that because you have called them to something else.

3. Instead of writing George complaining about the wording on the cards his staff sent out this year, why don’t you write and tell him that you’ll be praying for him and his family this year. Then follow up. It will be nice hearing from you again.

Who is George?

4. Instead of giving your children a lot of gifts you can’t afford and they don’t need, spend time with them. Tell them the story of My birth, and why I came to live with you down here. Hold them in your arms and remind them that I love them.

If my children were here, I would spend as much time with them as possible allowed by you. You know that every Christmas, I have shared with my family and friends the story of your birth, death and resurrection and soon return. Oh, I wish I could hold them in my arms and tell them I love them, but a letter, an email or a phone call will have to do for now.

5. Pick someone that has hurt you in the past and forgive him or her.

6. Did you know that someone in your town will attempt to take their own life this season because they feel so alone and hopeless? Since you don’t know who that person is, try giving everyone you meet a warm smile; it could make the difference.

Please remind me if their is someone that I have not forgiven or hold bitterness toward. I know that forgiveness is commanded by you.

The joy of the Lord is my strength and in him will I trust and to those I do not know that are lonely and try to take their life, I pray that you show mercy and grace upon them.

I only responded to this post to say, I know you Lord and you are not unknown to me. I have done these things over the years and will continue to proclaim you and try to glorify your name as a witness in word and in deed.

Whoever wrote this; I am sure had good intentions, but there is none that is like you or knows me like you know me. We have talked many times and this is not you. In fact I find it a poor representation of the merciful and gracious God that I have come to know and Love.

No disrespect to this person, but when someone decides to wear your shoes, they need to re evaluate their own life.

Wayne, This has not been posted in anyway to disrespect you. It is just How I feel and my honest opinion. I know you understand that. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Dear friends in Christ,
Though this in not your letter, still a few comments seem necessary..
This letter from Jesus at first sounds so good, but i feel it falls short of what Jesus Christ actually does want of us. One almost senses that a Christian that cares about the word Christmas is being too picky and unloving. The reality of the life, death and resurrection of the Son of God actually does en power us right now to replace the lies of the culture of death with the gospel of life. Facts do matter, ( Christ was born in Bethlehem in a manger ), Christmas was a date in history and has always mattered a great deal to the followers of Christ. Also, real tangeble things, like the Church He founded, with her life transmitting sacraments really do make us love our enemies and work endlessly for the truth to be proclaimed in every sphere of our society. This is the leaven of the good news, which the Church, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is called to be and proclaim. We can love and work for the Kingdom to come right here and now, and we must do so if Jesus in our Lord.

Thanks....
